Aud and Sigi meet Molly, a winged unicorn

Molly meets Audfrith and Sigi and asks for help at Audfrith’s home in Skarvald, fantasy Norse roleplay in Second Life.  Aud, Molly, and Sigrid (and Sigi’s goat, haha). Molly was a guest Rper in Skarvald. [12:26] Audfrith (emmiedee): Audfrith chops wood for her traps outside her house and suddenly, a unicorn walks up in front of her.  ((pasted from group chat)) [12:28] Audfrith (emmiedee): Audfrith stands back in awe of the beautiful unicorn that has just shown up behind her house.  "Hello there friend," she says calmly. [12:31] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): nays, scrapping the snow down to the dirt, as much as she can, sniffing the frozen soil [12:32] Audfrith (emmiedee): She steps back again as she sees wings folded against its sides, and she realizes that this is a pegasus, spoken of only in stories about the gods.  "I will make you an offer of water or dried berries, friend, if you wait while I prepare them. "  Aud moves to get a bowl for water and pulls some of the berries from her bag. [12:34] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): walks up to the young girl, sniffing at her hair and cloak resting on her shoulders. Nudging the side of her head in a friendly gesture. [12:36] Audfrith (emmiedee): Aud offers the water bowl on the ground to the animal, then offers her hand out flat with the ligon berries in it.  She continued to look at the animal in wonder. [12:39] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): sniffs her hand full of berries, before eating them in a few gental bits, with one of her front hooves Molly knocks the water bow over and beings to eat the wet snow. [12:40] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): brb really quick.)) [12:46] Audfrith (emmiedee): "Hey, Sigi!"  Aud sees her friend approach from the path.  "Look who is here!"  Aud steps back. [12:47] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): after eating the mixture of water and snow, Molly raise her head to nudge Audfrith with thanks, Spotting the woman behind her. [12:48] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): spooked, she rears up, then backs away a little [12:48] Sigrid Holgarsen (ariellaclair) finally arrived at Audfriths home,she directed Billy the goat towards the back,she knew her friend had some hay there ,so Billy would be content to munch on the hay while Sigi would visit - Sigi waved at her friend,then parked the cart and climbed off a bit awkward,holding her belly "Hello Aud,ohhh what is that?" she said greeting her friend,then seeing the Unicorn [12:49] Audfrith (emmiedee): "It's alright, friend,"  Aud tries to comfort the pegasus before it flies away.  "It's just another friend," she explains, holding out more berries. [12:51] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): points her nose in the direction of Audfirth's hand of berries, but is hesitant on stepping closer to take them. [12:52] Sigrid Holgarsen (ariellaclair) gawked at the wondrous animal with open mouth- taking a moment to digest it was no ordinary Unicorn,no it was one that could fly"Oh my,you have a lot of animal friends Aud,surprisingly for a Tanner" she jested and stepped closer"It is tame?" [12:54] Audfrith (emmiedee): As the animal calmed down, Aud turned to Sigi behind her.  "Hae ye keenst one of these animals before, Sigi?"  She turned back to the animal.  "Can ye speak to me, friend?" she asked, hopefully. [12:56] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): nods [12:56] Sigrid Holgarsen (ariellaclair) shook her head"Never,but it's so beautiful" she said her eyes sparkle with the sight of the horned animal [12:57] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): looks over to the other women, sniffing the air in her direction. [12:58] Audfrith (emmiedee): Aud's eyes grew wide as she saw and heard the animal nod, "yes."  She stammered, "Come ye here for a reason today, friend?  I mean, are ye jest passin thru?"  Aud asked, then realized that her questions had not been yes or no questions.  She shook her head, thinking that this was going to be harder than she thought. [12:59] Sigrid Holgarsen (ariellaclair) gave Audfrith a skeptical glance"I don't think they can talk " she said ,but of course was not sure about that glancing from Audfrith to the Unicorn and back "So whats it's name?" [12:59] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): nodded, with a nay. [13:01] Audfrith (emmiedee): Aud looked to Sigi.  "Why don't you ask her her name?"  She smiled.  "She just showed up here a few minutes ago."  Her eyes followed down Sigi's dress. "Wow, you're really starting to show!" Aud exclaimed. [13:02] Sigrid Holgarsen (ariellaclair) leaned over to whisper to Audfrith"I have heard te horn has magical power - Ohh,I thought ye said it was yer friend"then smiled "ye mean a new friend hum?" [13:04] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): drew a rough symbol of a spider in the snow, then shook her head. stomping on the symbol. [13:05] Audfrith (emmiedee): Aud looked back to the animal, trying to come closer to pet it.  She approached cautiously, watching the animal's eyes for the slightest urge to run.  Suddenly, she noticed that it had made a mark in the snow.  Spider?  was that a spider?   "Are you here about the spiders, friend?"  "I thought they were wiped out," she said looking back at Sigi. [13:08] Sigrid Holgarsen (ariellaclair) looked at Audfrith and shrugged"Spiders,why....I don't think it needs to worry about Spiders right now,its dead of winter and te little critters are somewhere warm" [13:10] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): shakes her head "no" then attempts to drew a crude image of a bow and arrow. [13:12] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): walks over the image she drew in the snow, towards Sig. Sniffing her hair and face. [13:14] Audfrith (emmiedee): "Ah, no, Sigi," Aud shook her head, remembering that not everyone had heard the information from the Thanes.  "The Thanes found a huge spider camp and killed their eggs and destroyed the camp," Aud said to Sigi.  "A couple of the giant spiders are still at large, but they don't want anyone to know really...." She trails off realizing she's just told someone. [13:15] Sigrid Holgarsen (ariellaclair) was confused ,looking down at the crude drawing,then almost jumped back when it came closer - Sigi stood as if she had swallowed a stick and her eyes were big and round"Nice Unicorn" she said stiffly ,just shifting her eyes to Audrith ,otherwise not moving" will it hurt me?" [13:17] Audfrith (emmiedee): ((Aud has a high intelligence and some animal empathy, and so I wonder if I could roll percentage to get a feeling of what the animal is drawing means.   Like, a 85 or better to understand something more?)) [13:19] Sigrid Holgarsen (ariellaclair) blinked at Audfrith,almost forgetting about being checked-out by the magical creature - she stood still,but was not afraid any longer,then she felt the slight nudge and smiled  "does that men we are friends now too?" then looked back at her human friend "Giant spiders?,that doesn't sound good,do we need to be alarmed?" [13:23] Audfrith (emmiedee): Aud said, "Looks like she likes you, Sigi!  But are you holding out on some cinnamon buns or something?  What's she looking for?"   She then grimaced.  "Well, the spiders seem to be fairly easy to kill, but I wouldn't go looking for them alone," Aud said. [13:23]  Audfrith rolls Dice (CC:10cbd):  48, 85 or better to understand the animal's telepathy better. [13:28] Audfrith (emmiedee): (()) [13:29] Audfrith (emmiedee): Aud looked at the pictures that the animal had drawn in the snow.  A bow and arrow?  What could that mean? She wondered if the animal could read her mind, as these creatures were said to do in folklore.  She steadied herself and formulated the question in her mind -- "What do you need?  Can we help you?"  She looked into the animal's eyes and said the questions out loud as she thought them. [13:30] Sigrid Holgarsen (ariellaclair) smiled fondly of the affections the Unicorn gave her"I need te get moving afore Billy decides te go back home,I still need some purchases te make,but it was good meeting ye " she said to the Unicorn,then turned to give her friend a hug"I will see ye later dear friend,looks like ye have a puzzle te solve" [meaning the Unicorns drawings] - Sigi climbed back on the cart and left for the market. [13:33] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): Molly allowed Audfirth to look deep into her eyes, feeling to was a friend to nature. After a bit Molly spoke. To Audfirth it sound as the creature was speak out loud, but only she was able to hear Molly speaking to her, in her mind. [13:34] Audfrith (emmiedee): Aud broke her concentration and hugged her friend back.  "Be safe and don't stay too long at the market.  Get home before dark," Aud said to Sigi.  After Sigi left, Aud turned back to the animal and suddenly heard -- no, FELT -- a voice talking back to her.  She listened closely. [13:36] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): "I do need aid, I am the last of the Luminaura. I am being hunted by a party of Drow, They wish to capture me, and present me as a gift to their Queen. Who will surely kill me." Molly pleads [13:37] Audfrith (emmiedee): Aud was swept back by the amount of information and the need of its importance, when the voice came out at her.  "What is your name?"  She asked.  "What can I do?  Take you to the king?" [13:39] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): "The Luminaura have no names that could be spoken in a tongue you would understand. But a human girl I once knew long ago called me Molly. You may do the same if you wish." [13:41] Audfrith (emmiedee): "Molly, that is a pretty name," Aud nodded.  "I am a ranger, but I am new here myself.  My name is Audfrith, and my home is open to you, if there is enough room, and my food is yours.  I could take you to the Ranger's station, Ulf would probably know what to do..."  Aud trailed off partly in thought. [13:44] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): "I must be careful with who's aura I come in contact with.. The darkness is like a sickness to us, and even to faintest could plague me." [13:46] Audfrith (emmiedee): "Ah..." the idea of a plague came to Audfrith, even though she did not know what darkness the animal was speaking of.  "The king here is a kind man.  His name is Balder, and his queen's name is Ellie.  They are kind people, and they welcome all here.  We do have a couple of Drow elves in our own community, and one of them has recently killed a few people, so I cannot offer you safety.  But perhaps the king could.  I could go see him on your behalf," Aud offered. [13:49] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): "That would be very kind of you, thank you, Audfirth. I will remain, here in the forest." Molly replied. [13:49] Audfrith (emmiedee): "Can you fit into my house, if you need a place to hide?" Aud asked Molly.  She looked doubtfully at Molly's folded wings. [13:50] ℳσℒℒץ  (mollycavallimiami): "Thank you, but I prefer to be outside, of enclosed structures." [13:52] Audfrith (emmiedee): Aud smiled.  "Me too," she responded.  She checked her weapons and took a drink from a horn that was propped in the firepit.  "I'll be back, then, Molly, and may ye not be bothered here in Skarvald.  We would welcome ye to a new home, if we can." Aud looked back one last time at the magical Molly and shook her head, thinking about how much she had learned about reality since coming to Skarvald.
